_{An incredibly belated birthday present for my dear friend Fifth--Element! He wanted to be drawn as a hippocampus, resulting from a rather fun rp we'd had a looooong time back. So, finally my abilities I felt were capable of truly doing it justice, and here's the result. Rather inspired by inki-drop's magnificent undersea drawings ( Seriously, go check them out! )

I went for the style of a Marlin for the character, for a number of reasons. ( Chief among them, so I could call him 'Sword Fifth' sometimes! XD ) But, the fish I felt fit along with the personality I know of the character- the Marlin is one of the rarest, fastest, and most impressive fish of the seas. They display themselves by way of their fins and long pointed spear... often seen as regal, and incredibly hardy. They're a survivor of tens of millions of years of evolution, living for ages since the time of the dinosaurs, and capable of living in just about every climate and through every change of the elements. If they don't fit an elemental magic wielding unicorn, then I doubt any fish would.

All in all, quite pleased with how well this turned out... atmospherically, required more layers than I'd ever used on that type of background, but it was definitely worth all the effort. And, for reference, the thingy floating next to him is a little ball of green magic fire held in a sphere of ice- a trade mark trick of Fifth Element's.
