I think Twilight needs to get out of there... don't you? She seems to be running into danger a lot lately.
Okay, so it's not the next Haunted Mansion portrait, but hey, it's cool. I just couldn't resist putting it off to do this.
This was incredibly fun, all the detail was a pain in the butt, though totally worth it. Frazzled Twilight is great, and I've been looking for a way to use that face. XD
ALIEN is going to be the opening to another series of pictures, "The Great Movie Ponies" inspired by The Great Movie Ride at Walt Disney World's MGM studios. (I will always call it that) If you want to see the others that are upcoming, I have them listed out in my Journal. I'm also up for suggestions, if you have a movie that you think I should do. ^^
248 Layers, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CS4, Seven hours or so.
EDIT: Just watched Prometheus, totally blew me away. And it wasn't just the IMAX speakers. XD
I'm going to have to make an animated loop out of this now with movie audio. It's gonna be great.
Really great work here Icaron the art style is keeping with MLP but also still captures the darkness of the Aliens universe.
Rainbow Dash: YOU B!TCH !
Later, they planned space missions by the second, with 0 seconds being liftoff. So naturally, before liftoff is negative, leading to countdowns IRL.
And now, a century later, coutdowns are common. And even in Alien they used "t" minus.
Funny thing is, though, the "t" is used because in the mathematics of planning a space mission, you use "t" for time. So if you need to fire the engine to change your orbit sometime later, then the math is worked out in advance for "t+" however many seconds. That's true for thousands of operations they do on spaceflights, like opening and closing valves, powering different systems like heaters on and off...
Really, though, there can't be many things to do after the ship explodes, so I'm not sure why engineers would use a "t" there
I officially love you. I've been saying that myself ever since they changed it!
This is gorgeous, as usual. You are amazing. The color, and the concept, it's just... wow.
ALL OF IT!
Very well made and awesome! I loved Disney so much I was a former cast member three times and worked in many different locations as well as my brother who worked in three different areas as well! I knew a friend who worked in the The Great Movie Ride as a tour guide/gangster/cowgirl (warning: don't mention that hat to them ) and she enjoyed it (plus she told me some secrets about it). I can't wait to see what other wonderful Walt Disney World Resort and MLP:FiM crossover pictures you will make!
You know, those would be absolutely perfect! I might just have to figure out some way to do those. ^^
Thanks! That's quite awesome that you've worked there, did you enjoy it? Ooh, secrets. What sort of secrets?
There's a tentative list in my most recent journal of the other one's I plan to do, but at the moment I'm working on something called "Spaceship Equestria". I think it should come out great-- Though to tell the truth, I really underestimated just HOW many facets Spaceship Earth has. I've been vectoring for hours and I'm not even half done with the sphere. XD
I have worked many jobs before and after but all three has been my top three jobs that I enjoyed the most was at Disney.
In DTD I was "Guest Show", for Poly I was "Merchtainment", and I WOD NYC I was "Heart of House/Runner (my main duty) /Category Specialist/Disney Expert (this one was mostly what some fellow Cast Members called me and not a official title)"
Having problems with Spaceship Earth? Reminds me of a lecture with "Ducky" Williams (Disney legendary artist and has done many Parks related artworks and advertisements so you have seen his stuff even if you didn't know at the time) and his own problems:
(The following is just based on memory of what he said) "If a Disney manager wanted to punish you somehow as a artist you where asked to draw the castle with its details and design which was very HARD to do no matter your experience with art and the castle was. Then some dummy must of said "How can it get any worse" then BOOM Spaceship Earth was made!" People don't understand but it's more then some round ball with triangles. The lighting that bounces off of each triangle on that ball makes it different from each other and you must remember the small differences and the line in the middle of the Icon. THEN Some idiot artist once again said "HOW CAN IT POSSIBLY GET ANY WORSE!?" and BOOM The Disney Cruise Line was born and artists around the world who had to make them fainted in horror! Nothing compares to trying to draw the ships the Magic and the Wonder that make the castles and Spaceship Earth and walk in the park. Finally to add to our horror They made the Dream and Fantasy that has a freaken clear tube slide going thur the huge ships! So when you see artwork of the ships you will see that it's always cut in half somehow such as Ariel next to the ship and her hair blowing to the point half of the ship is covered!"
I don't know what secrets are good to tell and what are not. If you are interested I can send a note to you so only you see.
Some stuff are not secrets but stories from my time and my brother's time working in WDW (he performed in MGM at Epic, AK at Kilimanjaro, and All Star at Front Desk) that range from good, bad, and funny.
